Implant-Supported Dentures and Your Smile
Implant-supported dentures are a custom arch of teeth that are secured using several implants.
The restorations are fixed. They will not fall out or cause jaw pain like removable dentures might. These custom teeth are anchored to implants placed into the jawbone. The process for placing these implants is precise and will help your new smile fit comfortably on your gum line.
Benefits of Full-Arch Restorations
Elevate Your Smile with Implant-Supported Dentures
Derby City Dental Specialists offer expert care and years of experience in giving you a new arch of teeth.
There are many options to replace missing teeth, but permanent dentures are one of the best. Our implant-supported dentures offer:
- Customization | Decide how you want your new smile to look with our smile design software before you commit to your new arch of teeth.
- Unmatched Stability | Your smile will stay in place using secure implants placed inside the jawbone. No longer will you have to worry about your smile staying in place.
- Effortless Maintenance | Your permanent dentures do not require removal or a demanding care routine. You can treat them like natural teeth.
- Jawbone Stability | If left without implants or teeth, your jawbone may lose density and cause jaw pain and facial sagging. Implants will keep your jawbone strong and healthy.
- Improved Facial Structure | Permanent implants can lift sagging cheeks and remove wrinkles around the mouth, refreshing your entire face, not just your smile.
- Comfort | Removable dentures are not always comfortable and can threaten to fall out. You will not have to worry about removing your dentures for cleaning or sleeping with our implant-supported dentures.
Permanent dentures are highly beneficial to your health. Having implants placed will help your jawbone remain strong. The permanent dentures can prevent infections of the gums and lower gum sensitivity and recession.

Contact UsThe Process for Your New Smile
The process for getting your full arch restoration is simple—similar to receiving just one implant. Throughout this process we take your comfort seriously, offering local and general anesthesia where necessary.
The whole process takes anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. It is dependent on the preparation needed and healing time.
Here is what you can expect for a full arch restoration:
- We start with a full oral health consultation. Using your notes from your general dentist’s referral and his own scans, Dr. Clagett will determine if you are a candidate for an full arch restoration and give you cost estimates at that time.
- If necessary, we will place bone grafts and allow those to heal before we move forward with implants. We may also remove decaying teeth that could hinder your oral health progress.
- We will place around 4–6 implants for each arch. The implants may be staggered, and we may need to only restore one arch at a time.
- You will wait for all implants to heal. Once your implants are healed, we will place attachments for the dentures to be placed on, called abutments.
- Once the abutments are healed, we will place the dental prosthetics of your new smile. This is a permanent teeth placement, so you never have to worry about refitting your smile again.
Each patient is different, and the healing process length depends on many factors. The healing process can be what lengthens each step. You are more likely to have a faster healing time if you carefully follow the aftercare advice from Dr. Clagett and our team.
When you choose Dr. Clagett as your periodontal specialist, you know you will have a clear vision and plan for every step of the way. Our periodontal team is dedicated to giving clear instructions and is here for your follow-up questions over the phone or during a visit.

Permanent Restorations vs. Removable Dentures
Many people who have had severe tooth loss use removable dentures. We do not believe those are a permanent and sustainable solution for our patients. We are here to give you something better.
Implant-Supported Dentures | Traditional Dentures |
Allow eating of most foods, avoiding only sticky or very hard items. | May require removal or restrictions for certain foods. |
Restore normal speech patterns. | Can cause speech issues, such as a lisp. |
Support facial structure, preventing sagging and shrunken jawline. | Do not support facial structure, potentially leading to fit changes over time. |
Promote jawbone growth and stability. | Sit over the gums without promoting bone health. |
Our office is here to offer a permanent smile that rejuvenates your smile and face.
Implants and implant-supported dentures are not a good fit for those who cannot receive surgery at this time. If you are worried about receiving surgery or going under anesthesia, talk to Dr. Clagett and our team so we can find a solution that fits your needs.
